We give thanks for the life of Charles Stillwell Myers, Jr., who passed away on Friday, November 19, 2010 in San Antonio. He was born April 22, 1932 in Bryan, the son of Charles Stillwell Myers and Flora Woods Myers. He attended Baylor University and received two degrees from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., a BS from the School of Foreign Service and a MS in Linguistics. He worked for the CalTex Oil Company for nine years in New York City, Vietnam, Okinawa, and the Philippines. From 1964 to1990, he worked for the IBM Corporation and lived in Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and, for the last sixteen years, in Paris, France.

After retiring, he resided in Austin, where he was a founding member of the University of Texas-Seminars for Adult Growth and Enrichment (UT-SAGE) program and enjoyed the Symphony, the Opera, entertaining, new cars and the preparation of good food, by himself and others. He was an avid reader and a wonderful conversationalist and will be missed by his family and far-flung friends.

He is survived by his brother, William Allen Myers, and wife, Ellen; his nephew, William Webb Myers, and wife, Kathryn, and their children; Mary Olive and Charles Allen, all of San Antonio. He is also survived by two first cousins, Zenobia Myers Bremond of Austin and Barney Davis of Cedar Park.

A graveside service will be held at the City Cemetery, 1111 North Texas Ave. in Bryan, on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception at the Kyle House. Memorials in his memory may be made to the Austin Symphony Endowment Fund, 1101 Red River, Austin, TX 78701, or the UT-SAGE Excellence Fund, P.O. Box 7879, Austin, TX 78713.
