born in Hanover, Germany..."..was on his way to his farm 6 miles northeast of town when the accident occurred. He was making the trip in a hack driven by his neighbor, Charles Ridgley. Mr. Bernzen was standing in the back part of the hack, and while they were climbing the hill north of Pataha the driver urged his team with the whip and their sudden start caused Mr. Bernzen to fall backward to the ground. He was placed in the rig and quickly driven home..he had received a fracture of the base of the skull. He had suffered a like injury several years ago and lay unconscious for 17 days...Married in 1893 to Frances CORCORAN in Jopin, Missouri...1860 came to U.S.A..1878 to Columbia Co, WA..six years ago moved to Pomeroy, WA...Father of Katie and a deceased daughter (died several years ago)...Obit Columbia Chronicle, Dayton WA, 30 December 1914, page 1.
