Janet Marie "Jane" Fortney, 87, of Lewistown, died at 12:20 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, at her home.Born May 12, 1927, in Mount Union, she was raised by the late Charles and Gertrude Banks.She was also preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. McClelland J. Fortney, on Oct. 9, 1997, and a son, Donald P. Yetter.She is survived by: daughters, Carol Dill and Brenda Feltman, both of Lewistown; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.Janet was a 1945 graduate of Mount Union High School.Janet and her late husband were members of the United Methodist Central PA Conference. She assisted her husband in his ministry serving with him in the following charges: Vira United Methodist, Lewistown from 1963 to 1977; Phillipsburg Grace United Methodist Church from 1977 to 1981; and Lake Park and Granville United Methodist Churches from 1981 to 1993. They also served in the Penn's Valley Charge after her husband retired. She was the program director at the Island Grove Campground for 20 years in Mexico, Pennsylvania.Janet's funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 23 Juniata St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Bernard Carpenter officiating.A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown.Interment will take place in Lind Memorial Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Missionary Alliance Church at 217 S. Washington St., Mount Union, PA 17066 in care of Charles Mowery or to a charity of one's choice.
