Husband of Mary Jane (McClure) Bean (1853-1940). Son of William Gallenous Bean and Julia Ann "Judy" (Dunaway) Bean. Father of six children. Sidney was a veteran of the Civil War. He fought for the 60th Ohio Infantry, Co. F. from February through November 1862. He then enlisted in 13th Ohio Cavalry, Co. C. Sidney's twin brother, Sinclair, also enlisted in the 60th Ohio Infantry. Sidney's Cavalry regiment fought at Cold Harbor and also was involved in the capture of Lee's army at Appomattox.
