Mrs. Clara Nash Westervelt, 70, died January 4, 1976 in Research Medical Center, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born and grew to womanhood in the Melrose area of Cherokee county, Kansas. She was a school teacher for several years in that area before she married Ernest Purl Westervelt on 3 September 1927 at Joplin, Jasper county, Missouri. They moved to Kansas City, Missouri where they lived all of their married life together. She was a member of the Paseo United Presbyterian Church at Kansas City, Missouri.

Survivors include her husband of the home, two daughters, Dorothy Ross of Lake Winnebago, Missouri; Norma Barncord of Overland Park, Kansas; Joe Westervelt of Blue Springs, Missouri and Larry Westervelt of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. One sister, Orpha McPherson and one brother Howard Nash both of Chetopa, Kansas.

Funeral services were held in Floral Hills Chapel and interment was in the Floral Hills Cemetery on January 7.

Those attending from Chetopa were Mrs. Dale Conard, Mrs. Evelyn Yost, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Nash, Mrs. Orpha McPherson, and Mr. Wayne Nash of Ponca City, Okla.
