Mamie's parents were Albert R. and Mary E. (McKee)Nash.

Both James M. Imel and Mamie F. Nash were residing at Faulkner, Cherokee County, Kansas at the time of their marriage. He was aged 22 and she was aged 24. They were married by the Probate Judge, a Mr. J. Ellis.

Jim and Mamie made their home about one mile west of Faulkner all their lives, except for a two to three year period when they moved to Richmond, Califormia. There Jim worked in the shipyards as a welder from 1942-1944 during the WWII. They returned home after the war to their farm home and lived until Jim died.

Jim and Mamie were active in church life for many years; their marriage was one of closeness and caring. Mamie was one of the early school teachers in Cherokee County, teaching for a number of years in the rural schoolhouses of the area. Pleasant School, Neosho township, Cherokee county, Kansas from 1913-1915 and from 1916-1917. She also taught at the Fairview School, Neosho township from 1915-1916.
