OBITUARY: ALBERT CRAYS ANSWERS CALL
[Martin County Tribune, 21 OCT 1926]
Another of Loogootee's best-known citizens has been summoned to eternal reward. Albert Crays, age 76 years, died Tuesday morning, the result of complications of advanced age.
He was a nephew of William E. Crays, who died from injuries he received at Petersburg Saturday night when run down by an automobile.
Funeral services were to be held at the M.E. church this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with burial at Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
The deceased man was born in Loogootee April 25, 1850. Later he moved to the Crays homestead near the city where most of his life was spent. Eight years ago he moved back to Loogootee. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William and Mary (Tewell) Crays, the youngest of a family of nine children. Mr. Crays was the last of that family to die.
He married Martha Patterson and they were the parents of four children: Mrs. Ida Stephens, of Oklamulgee, Okla.; Mrs. Jennie Wangler and Martin Crays, of Washington, all living; and Nellie, who died with the mother several years ago.
Mr. Crays then married Florence Fraim, the daughter of Amarmaduke and Flora Fraim and to this union were born two children, Mrs. Carl Burress and Miss Flora Crays, who with the widow survive. Besides the widow and children, eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and nephews survive.
