To avoid notoriety Miss Sadie Schurman and Fred Tuley drove to the home of Rev. H. R. Murphy Sunday evening and were quietly married. But a surprise awaited them when they returned to the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Schurman, they found the relatives of each and a few intimated friends waiting to greet them. Miss Schurman is considered one of the most beautiful young ladies of the brunette type around Effingham. She has been a teacher in Atchison county since her graduation from the A. C. H. S. 3 years ago, last year teaching the second primary department of the Effingham public school. She is particularly capable and a very popular young lady. Mr. Tuley is the second son of Mr. and Mrs. John Tuley of Effingham is considered a splendid young man. Mr. and Mrs. Tuley will go to housekeeping on a farm five miles north east of Effingham.
