David Allen and his wfe Amey, came to the area from Little Compton, Rhode Island in 1803. They spent a few years in another part of the state but by 1808 had settled permently in Day. They had 10 children, six of whom remained here and established a line which today numbers over 50 families still living in the town. David had the distinction of being a direct descendant of Priscilla and John Alden. They were his four times great grandparents and were among the passengers who came to this country in 1620 on the Mayflower.
