Died

Knott - Joseph M. Knott died of inflammation of the bowels at the home of his sister, Mrs. A.C. Bailey, in Lancaster, Tuesday of this week, aged about 37 years.

Deceased went to Lancaster last Thursday on legal business and was taken sick last Friday morning. That evening he wrote to his wife at this place that he was ailing. Saturday morning he telegraphed for her, and she went to Lancaster on the morning train. From that time on he seemed to grow worse and passed away peacefully and tranquilly at 1 p.m. Tuesday. The body was brought to this city yesterday. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. C.L. Hogue at the Presbyterian Church in the afternoon, after which the body was laid to rest in the cemetery at this place. Deceased was a brilliant lawyer, and at the time of his death was associated with his father in the practice of his profession. He was esteemed and loved by all who knew him and his death is sincerely mourned. We tender the grief-stricken wife and and [sic] two fatherless children our heartfelt sympathy.
