Mr. Giese attended Trinity Episcopal Church and was past master of Lancaster Union Lodge 88 A.F.&A.M. and past deputy grand master of 9th Masonic District of the Grand Lodge of Virginia.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a retired farmer and U.S. Postal Servie rural mail carrier.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth D. Giese, a daughter and son-in-law, Gwendolyn G. and Stanley James III of Weems; a son and daughter-in-law, Craig H. and Michelle W. Giese of Lively; three grandchildren, Joshua C. and Catherine K. James and Madison Elizabeth Giese; two brothers, William Gill Giese of Fayetteville, Ak., and Tim Giese of Kilmarnock; four sisters, Ida G. Giese of Capital Heights, Md., Dasie G. Cooper of Nevada City, Ca., Nannie M. Giese of Genoa City, Wi., and Bertha G. Abbott of Lancaster.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 25, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lancaster. Interment was Monday at St. Mary's Whitechapel Episcopal Church Cemetery in Lively. Pallbearers were Rosie Fallin, James R. Hinton, J.P.Conley, James F. Davis, Donnie Robertson, Tyler Kelley and Emory Rice, Honararies were Joe Bill Beane and Morris Dodson Jr.
