Preceded in death by her husband, Wallace E. Gooding, Sr. in 1964; son, Wallace E. Gooding, Jr. in 1993; her parents, Bertha & James Giese, Sr.; sisters, Dasie Manson, Bertha Abbott, & Nannie Mae Giese, and brother, James Giese, Jr.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Judith & Alan Burk; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald & Susan Gooding; daughter-in-law, Margaret Gooding; grandchildren, Wallace III, Mark & Christoper Gooding, Jennifer Bunn, and Stephen & Aaron Gooding; great-grandchildren, Nicholas & Gabrielle & Jacob Gooding, and Lily Bunn; two brothers and sisters-in-law, William &I Ann and Timothy & Patsy giese; sister-in-law, Ruth Giese; nieces and nephews.

A Registered Nurse, Mrs. Gooding retired in 1982, as assistant director of nursing at night, from Providence Hospital in Washington, D.C., where she worked for 33 years. She graduated from Lively High School, Lively, VA, in June 1934; earned her medical degree from the School of Nursing at Catholics University, and received her RN certification in 1942. She moved to Washington, D.C. in 1934, where she resided until 1953. She then moved to Capitol Heights, MD, where she resided from September 1953 until April 2007.

She was a member and officer of the Capitol Heights Senior Citizens Club; an active member of the Prince George's Council of Senior Citizens Clubs, and a longtime participant in the senior aerobic and swim classes at Prince George's Community College. Along with her daughter or son, she traveled and enjoyed visiting all of the 50 states and some of the foreign countries.

Interment followed funeral services conducted at the Lee Funeral Home, Clinton, MD, on Saturday, November 7, 2009.
