Mary was born in Chicago, IL the daughter of Helen (Krzyzostanski) and Stanley Babinski. She had 4 sisters/brothers; William Babbin, Walter, Jennie and Florence Babinski.
After her father died, her mother married Joseph Slawinski and Joseph's children became Helen's step sisters/brothrs Alex, Florence, Henry Slawinski Arthur and Harry Slavinski.
