Walter was born in Chicago, IL the son of Helen (Krzyzostanski) and Stanley Babinski. He had 4 sisters/brothers; William Babbin, Mary, Jennie and Florence Babinski.
After his father died, his mother married Joseph Slawinski and his children became Walter's step sisters/brothers; Alex, and Florence Slawinski and Arthur and Harry Slavinski.
Walter served in the US Army calvary during WWII and fought in the Pacific theater. He saw action in the Philippines, Leyte, New Guinea, Manila and Luzon campaigns. After his tour of duty, he worked for Babcock and Wilcox; retiring with 22 yrs of service.
Walter married Betty Prosser and they had 1 child, Walter "Pat" (Pamela) Babinski Jr.
Preceded in death by his wife, Walter leaves his son and daughter-in-law and grandaughters, Natasia Metz and Latrisha Boncoski; 4 great-grandchildren and step-son, Jeff Prosser.
Walter was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic church, the Barberton Moose Lodge 759, Barberton Senior Center and the Barberton VFW Post 1066.
