HARRY E. ANDERSON
Harry E. Anderson, age 41, superintendent of the CAL Community school at Latimer, died suddenly late Friday afternoon, Nov. 18, while coaching the girl's basketball team in the gym of the Alexander school
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 21, at the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Latimer, with the Rev. Donald L. Harbour, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating at the last rites. Graveside military services were held at the cemetery in Humeston.
He was born August 23, 1925, at Humeston, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Anderson. During World War II he served as 2nd Lt. in the United States Air Corps. He received his BA, MA, and Specialist Education degrees at Drake University. He also attended the University of Iowa and Columbia University.
He was married to Marjorie Clark, Sept. 7, 1946, in Des Moines. He taught and was superintendent and principal at the school in Plymouth, and then went to North Central at Manly, where he was principal one year. He served as superintendent of the Kanawha Community schools.
In 1947 he joined the Methodist church. He was a member of the Iowa State Education Association, National Education Association, Iowa Association of School Administrators, American Association of School Administrators and a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Christina, age 16; Carla, age 14; and Karen, age 5; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Anderson, of Humeston; one brother, Donald Anderson, of Chariton; and one sister, Mrs. A. W. (Betty) Bolling, of Silver City, New Mexico.
