George W. Bruner, 85, Hope, Ind., died at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 1989 in the Bartholomew County Hospital, Columbus, Ind. He had been seriously ill two weeks.

He was born in Hope, Ind., March 11, 1904, the son of Ross and Bertha Rominger Bruner. He married Nora Louise Trotter April 3, 1929, and she survives. He and his wife owned and operated the Bruner Hardware Store in Hope, Ind., for 26 years and retired in 1969. He was a member of the Hope United Methodist Church and was a 61-year member of the Hope, Ind., Masonic Lodge 150.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one sister, Jomyla Robertson, Hope, Ind.; one brother, Rollin Bruner, Indianapolis; three nephews, John K. Robertson, Hope, Ind., Ross Becker, Anderson, Ind., and Larry L. Bruner, San Antonio, Texas.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Walter Bruner and one sister, Martha Bruner.

The services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Norman Funeral Home, Hope, Ind., with the Rev. Jerry.

Burial will be in the Hope Moravian Cemetery, Hope, Ind.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

A Masonic memorial service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday. Memorials may be given to the Hope United Methodist Church or to the Hope Ambulance Squad 15.
