Zilphia "Amanda" Ervin Brown
1839 - 1916

Zilphia (sometimes Zilpha) "Amanda" was born to Abner and Molcy Basden Ervin in Onslow County, North Carolina. She married Bryant Southerland on 21 April 1857 in Richlands, Onslow, North Carolina; they had one daughter, Laura Cornelia in 1861.

Amanda's husband was a well-known and fairly wealthy merchant in Richlands, North Carolina in 1860. Bryant went away to serve the Confederacy in the War Between the States, in January 1865 he was listed as a Prisoner of War; never returned home. Amanda married again, twice. Isaac Brown, was one of her spouses, it is believed they married about 1873 and he passed away about 1879. Research continues.
