1802 - 1877
Molcy (Molsey in some records) Basden Ervin was born the youngest child of Jesse Baisden, her mother at this writing has yet to be positively identified (despite theories her name may be Janet Jennet). She was born the 21st day of March 1802 in the same town she would spend the remainder of her life, Richlands, Onslow, North Carolina.
In about 1824, she married Abner Ervin, son of Edward and Celia Susan Bonner Ervin.
Her husband, Abner, made his living as a farmer/landowner, a fairly well-known one in Onslow County. He and Molcy had six children together, all lived to adulthood, which is an incredible feat and a blessing for the time. Molcy passed on 21 years before Abner, three days before her 75th birthday, on the 18th day of March 1877.
The Ervin and Basden (Baisden) families played a large and significant role in the prosperity of Onslow County. A family cemetery was named for her husband Abner on the original family property in Richlands, well maintained and still owned by Ervin family at this writing.
