Dwain E. "Curly" Hiers, age 74, of Fairmount, IN, died Monday, September 26, 2011, at Miller' s Merry Manor in Marion, IN after a short illness. Dwain was a truck driver and member of Teamster Local 135 of Indianapolis. He drove for Essex for 14 years and also for Hi-Way Dispatch, Carey Transport of Lafayette and Gladieux of Ft. Wayne. He also farmed for Gough Family Farms of Fairmount and Morrie Hull of Summitville.
Dwain enjoyed delivering the Helping Hands Christmas Baskets. He was a member of the Madison County RC Fliers Club. He was a woodworker and enjoyed making his planes from scratch and was a member of the Grant United Methodist Church.
Dwain was the son of the late Omer Hiers and the late Flossie (Draving) Hiers. He was born in Peru Indiana on April 20, 1937. He graduated from Peru High High School in in 1956 and married Evelyn L. Walls on August 26, 1961. She survives in Fairmount.
