A portion of her obituary:"...The deceased was better known in the community as Miss Dora Burr, having been married to Peter Franzmathes but eight weeks previous to her death. She was the oldest child of Mr. and Mrs.. Charles C. Burr and a granddaughter of M.C. Burr. Her age was 22 years and 8 months. She was born here in Smith Centre and had lived all her life here in this county. She was a ember of the Smith Centre Christian church with which she united in 1894. In 1897 she graduated with honors from the high school and was the first graduate of that institution to pass away.

As an efficient clerk in E. E. Dugans store and later as head clerk of Mathes Bros big store at Hummer for two years, she became acquainted with almost everybody. To know her brought admiration and respect....As a teacher she won honors as in other things. Her pupils in the Perdue and Logan districts remember her kindly. She leaves behind no family other than her husband who deserves a better fortune than the loss of such a worthy wife. To him and to her relatives the hearts of the people go out in the deepest sorrow.
