Funeral Mass for Barbara Ida Marquart, 96, of Dickinson will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 29, 2011 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Father Keith Streifel celebrating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery, Halliday, ND.

Visitation for Barbara will be from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a rosary and prayer service being held at 7:00 p.m.

Barbara passed away Sunday, September 25, 2011 at St. Benedict's Health Center in Dickinson.

Barbara Ida Volz was born August 23, 1915 in Dunn County, the daughter of Paul and Helen (Masset) Volz. She grew up and attended country school in Dunn County. Due to the loss of her parents at an early age, Barbara moved to Dickinson where she worked at St. Joseph's Hospital. On October 8, 1934, Barbara married Luke Marquart in Dodge, ND. To this union seven children were born: Dorothy, Marie, Leonard, Larry, Donna, Dianna and Theresa. The couple farmed for a short time in the Dodge area. In 1958, Barbara and Luke moved to Dickinson. Together, they operated the Marquart's Shoe Shop until Luke's death in 1971. Barbara then went to work at St. Joseph's Hospital from 1971 until 1978. On January 6, 1979, Barbara married Mike J. Grinsteinner. Mike passed away in 1988.

Barbara was well known for her delicious homemade buns. She also enjoyed gardening, making jelly, and doing crafts. Barbara also enjoyed shaking dice with her children and grandchildren. She loved to visit with her family and friends while enjoying a cup of coffee. Barbara always loved her longtime companion, "Whiskers" the cat. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Barbara is survived by her children, Dorothy Wieland of Glendive, MT, Marie Wieland of Dickinson, Leonard (Martha) Marquart of Dickinson, Larry (Judy) Marquart of Glendive, Donna (Harry) Wadnizak of Fargo, Dianna Johnson, Gillette, WY an d Theresa (Henry) Fichter of Gillette, WY; one brother, Steve Voltz of Columbus, MT, 20 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Helen Volz; husbands, Luke and Mike; sons-in-law, Milton and Charles; great grandson, Shawn; three sisters and seven brothers.
