Death certificate says he was in the lumber business.

From 1897 to 1906, J. A. Lowrey owned one half of the historic Old Mill of Guilford when it was sold to B. R. Beeson and M. L. Hendrix.

In 1901, there was a J. A. Lowrey listed on the company letterhead stationery of John's brother's tobacco manufacturing company, Lowrey, Son & Co. This was most likely John Albert Lowrey. He had a brother who was also J.A. Lowrey, but his brother owned and operated a grocery business.

John A. Lowrey lived for some years in Old Fort, NC.

No marriage record found.
