Services Sunday For
Mrs. Clara Eddy

Despite the inclement weather
of Sunday, many, came to the
Kebil Funeral Home that afternoon
to pay their final respects to
the life of Mrs. Clara Jane Haines
Eddy, who passed away, the previous
Wednesday evening in
Elmwood, Ill., at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. T. J. Thornton,
with whom she resided. An im-
pressive Christian Science service
was held and the burial took
place in the Charter Grove cemetery.
The many lovely floral
tributes were expressive of the
esteem in which the deceased
was held. A heart attack was the
direct cause of her death, although
she had been in ill health
for some time.
Mrs. Eddy was born in Hampshire
67 years ago, and was the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John
Haines, former local residents,
both of whom are deceased. She
made her home here with her
son, Arthur and his wife until he
went into the service. Mrs. Eddy
is well known in this community,
also in DeKalb where she had
operated beauty parlors for a
number of years.
Besides her son and daughter
with whom she lived, another
daughter, Mrs. Richard Davis of
East Chicago, Ind., survives, also
two brothers, Arthur Haines Of
Plato Center and Verh Haines of
Hampshire and two sisters, Mrs.
Cora Reed of Elgin and Mrs, Flora
Phillips from Dyer; Ind. One
sister, Mrs. William Baker, pre-
ceded her in death; i
Arthur Eddy accompanied by
his wife and sister Mrs. Thornton
who had gone east to visit him at
Davisville, R. I. where he is sta-
tioned in the navy at present, ar-
rived at Elmwood Friday night,
after learning of his mother's
death. Mrs. Eddy plans to return
east with her husband next week.
