Mrs. Tennessee A. Park died at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Stovall, on Poplar Street, Sunday, Jan. 25, 1903 at 11:45 a.m. after an illness of pneumonia of only a few days duration. The deceased was born July 26, 1838, in Walker County, Texas, near Huntsville. She moved to
McLennan County in the early fifties and was married to W. B. Park in May 1856. Moved to Ellis County in the fall of 1870 and had been a resident of this community ever since, with the exception of a few years recently spent in Norman, Oklahoma.

Her husband died a little over eighteen years ago, and she was left to assume the whole responsibility of rearing a large family of children consisting of six girls and two boys, all of whom are highly respected Christian ladies and gentlemen and are left to mourn for the dear mother whose life work ended last Sunday. She had been a consistent member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church for more than thirty years and was a faithful, untiring Christian worker. Hers was a life of unselfishness and charity that offers to us useful lessons. She was not unmindful of the end, yet she dreaded it not but with a bright hope born of Christian faith cheerfully awaited the expected summons and peacefully passed to eternal happiness and rest.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Clay Collier at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church Monday afternoon at two o'clock and a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends were present to listen to the words of truth and wisdom uttered by Rev. Collier in paying the last sad tribute to the departed, after which the remains were consigned to the tomb in the cemetery here to await the resurrection morn. Five of her daughters, Mrs. M. D. Garvin, Mrs. C S. Credille, Mrs. J. D. Stovall, Mrs. H. W. Garrett, and Mrs. G. W. McWhirter were at her bedside during the entire time of her last fatal illness. Another daughter, Mrs. Allie Spencer of Norman, Okla., would have reached here in time for the funeral, but missed connections at Fort Worth and did
not reach here until Monday night. The two sons were absent. T. B. Park lives in Hale County and the nearest railroad station is sixty miles. Rev. Sterling Park is in New York City, where he is attending a theological college. The family has the sincere sympathy of a large circle of friends in their sad bereavement.

Their tall marble tombstones in the Italy Cemetery are similar in appearance.
