Henrietta Louisa Spaugh (Spach) was the third of six known children of Joseph Spach (became Spaugh) (1790-1864) and Mary Elisabeth (went by Bessie) Essex Spaugh (1796-1860), who married 18 Jan 1814 at Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina. The family moved from North Carolina to the vicinity of the Moravian Community of Hope, Bartholomew County, Indiana sometime between 1825 and 1834.

Henrietta married James Edward Arbuckle (1816-1883) on 17 Oct 1837 at Hope, Bartholomew County, Indiana. Henrietta and James were the parents of fifteen known children, namely:

3. Martin Arbuckle (1841-1903)
4. Louisa Arbuckle Talkington (1842-1879)
5. Robert Lewis Arbuckle (1845-1894)

In 1850 the family was living at Haw Creek Township, Bartholomew County, Indiana with James (a farmer), Henrietta and seven of the first eight children (not William). In 1860 James (a farmer), Henrietta and 11 of the first thirteen children (not William or Paul) were living at Rock Creek Township, Bartholomew County, Indiana. In 1870 the parents, Lewis, Miranda, Amanda, Edward, James, Joseph and Henry were living at Rock Creek Township, Bartholomew County, Indiana with James listed as a farmer. After Henrietta died, James remarried to Rebecca Carmichael (1831-1897) on 24 Jul 1879 at Bartholomew County, Indiana, but had no known additional children.
