John Edward Day, 55, of Indianapolis, Jennings county native and brother of five local persons, died Monday night at his home.

He was the brother of Charles Day of Route 9, Mrs. Kenneth Bolar of 4042 Roselawn, Mrs. Donald Former of 2806 22nd, Mrs. Francis Smith of 2207. Seventh and Mrs. Lester Davis of North Vernon.

Day was born July 10, 1918, at North Vernon to Ed and Anna Fields Day. In 1955, he married Katherine Robertson, who survives. He was a self-employed appliance repairman and part-time manager of a service station in Indianapolis. An Army veteran of the second world war, he moved to Indianapolis in 1945 and attended the Villa Baptist church there.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Robert Seward of Indianapolis and Mrs. Bernard Ferguson of Detroit, Mich., and several nieces and nephews in the Columbus area. He was preceded in death by a sister.
