On July 30, 1944, in Tacoma WA, he married Anna Noe, who died in 1993. He was a longrime Montana resident who moved to Medford in 1996 to live with his daughter.
Mr Grotte was a sargeant in the U. S. Army Air Corps with the 139th regiment in North Africa and Italy during WW II. He was a life member of the Montana International Operating Engineers, Local 400. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and gardening.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Storey, Medford, Carla Mills, Bremerton, WA, and Joyce Hostrom, Helena, MT, seven grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Jon, in 1998. Arrangements by Abbey Funeral, Medford. [Mail Tribune, Medford, OR. 2/2/00]
