"At a meeting of the Board of Trustees for the Town of Harrodsburg at the Room of Mr. Williams on this day, the 5th day of January 1826.

"Archibald Wood appeared before the board and informed them that James Noble has confined in a pen near his house three bears, that the pen is not sufficiently strong to keep them safely and securely. That a few days ago one of the bears got out of said pen and went to his house and greatly alarmed his family, that it went into the apartment in the house where two children were sleeping and who were with great difficulty waked up and got out of the house. He states that he considers the bears a dangerous and troublesome nowyance to that part of town and think it the duty of the board either to Compel Mr. Noble to remove the bears out of Town, or to secure them that the Town may be no longer annoyed by them.

"Where upon resolved that Town Sargent notify Mr. Noble to remove said bears out of the limits of the Town before the 10th Inst. And in the mean time to secure to the satisfaction of the Town and upon failure said Sargent be directed to shoot them."
