Daughter of Benedict Joseph Padgett Sr. and Eliza Gates, married William Marshall Seal Jr. in Martin County, Indiana 26 Nov 1861.

Following is her obituary as printed in The Washington Democrat, Washington, Indiana, 06 May 1915:

"MRS. SEAL IS CALLED. MOTHER OF FLAVIAN A. SEAL, FORMER PROSECUTOR, DIES AT LOOGOOTEE. HEART TROUBLE CAUSE. HAD BEEN ILL FOR TWO MONTHS AND NEWS OF HER DEATH CAME AS NO SURPRISE.

Death called a widely known resident of Loogootee Wednesday night when Mrs. Minerva J. Seal, wife of William M. Seal, and the mother of Flavian A. Seal, local attorney, passed away. Death was due to an ailment of the heart. Mrs. Seal had been in failing health for two months but during the last week her condition grew so critical that the children and close friends of Mrs. Seal realized that the end was rapidly approaching, and they were prepared for the news of her death. A specialist from Cincinnati, called during the last week of her illness, was unable to relieve her condition and the end came while he and members of the family were nearby. Previous to her marriage to William M. Seal, Mrs. Seal was Minerva J. Padgett, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benedict Padgett. She was born and reared in Martin county but for many years she was a resident of Barr township, having lived in the neighborhood of the Seal's schoolhouse northeast of Cannelburg. She would have been 76 years old next Dec. 18th. Twelve years ago Mr. and Mrs. Seal moved to Loogootee, which has since been their home. Surviving Mrs. Seal is her husband and six children. They are Mrs. Agnes Walker of Loogootee; Lorenzo Seal, of Loogootee; C.C. Seal of Cincinnati; Mrs. Lyda Carrico, Shafter, Nevada; Flavian A. Seal, this city; and Mrs. Ella Lee, Loogootee. She was the last member of her family and leaves no brothers or sisters. Mrs. Seal was an ideal mother, faithful in her home duties, exact yet loving in the rearing of her children, ardent and true in her religious worship and a friendly neighbor well beloved by those acquainted with her. She had been a lifelong member of the Catholic church with her membership with St. John's congregation in Loogootee. The funeral services will be held in St. John's church in Loogootee, Saturday morning at 9 o'clock. Burial will be made in St. Mary's cemetery."
