He worked for the Ferry Company at Flint Creek on old 31 highway between Hartselle and Decatur after bridges were built over Flint Creek, he lost his job. Next, he went to work for L&N Railroad with his brother Sam Nuby for several years. Upon retiring from working for the L & N Railroad, Mr. Nuby and his son Garland operated the Nuby's Shell Gas, Convenience Store at Leesdale, Alabama for a couple of years, then they changed location to North of Hartselle, where he and his son Garland Nuby operated the Nuby's Gulf Gas, Service Station, Convenience Store on Highway 31 North of Hartselle, Alabama the business closed early in the 1970's. He and His wife had a small farm located on Nuby Road which they raised chickens, hogs, cows, and raised row crops.
Mr. Nuby was a member of Hartselle First Church of God for a number of years.
Mr. Nuby died at the age of eighty-nine on Sunday, April 22, 1979 after a short illness.
