WINNFIELD — Services for Joseph R. Vess will be at 10 a.m. today in the chapel of Southern with the Rev. Eugene Love officiating. Masonic graveside services and burial will be in Garden of Memories.
Vess, 86, of Winnfield died at 4:35 a.m. Thursday in Humana Hospital.
He was a native of Stanton, Va. He was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Lodge, No. 151 F&AM and was a 32nd degree Mason of Scottish Rite. He was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Flossie Vess of Winnfield; one son, Bob Vess of New Buffalo, Mich.; one daughter, Susan Welkison of Hillsdale, Mich.; two stepsons, Glen Heck of Natchitoches and Charles Heck of Winnfield; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Oscar Vails and Geraldine Kyson, both of Natchitoches; and several grandchildren.
Friends may call from 8 a.m. until time of services today in the funeral home.
