Salt Lake Tribune, The (UT) - May 12, 1996 Deceased Name: Z.P. Smith. SALT LAKE CITY-- Zeanes P. Smith, 76, our beloved husband and father, died Thursday, May 9, 1996 at St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City of heart failure. He was born September 14, 1919 in Bassett City, Arkansas, a son of William V. and Robbie Beaver Smith. He married Beverly Louise Tracy on September 28, 1939 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died October 17, 1992. He married Anne Newsom on February 13, 1993 in Salt Lake City. He moved to Ogden from Arkansas in 1934 at the age of 15. He was a member of the LDS Church. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy. Mr. Smith worked as a contractor with his partner Charlie Bushnell. He later formed Z.P. Smith, Inc. and was the owner for over 23 years, retiring in 1984.

Survived by his wife, of Salt Lake; five sons, two daughters: Darl (Marilyn) Smith, Salt Lake; Brent (Terry) Smith, Clearfield; Robbie Douglas (Freda) Smith, Sandy; Don (Teresa) Smith, South Ogden; Kim (Lorie) Smith, Sandy; Janet Smith-Ward, South Ogden; Susan (Anthony) DeMinck, Eden; three step-sons, Jason Edward Ehlers, Travis Karl Ehlers, and Patrick Ryan Ehlers, 21 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Also survived by three brothers and two sisters: Robert H. (Lavon) Smith, Ogden; Joseph D. (Dorothy) Smith, North Ogden; Raymond H. (Naomi) Smith, Hooper, Ruth Rowe, Huntsville; and Betty (Max) Christensen, West Point.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Sean Smith, a son in law, Kim Ward, and three brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be at the graveside on Tuesday, 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park. Friends may call Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Monday from 6-8 p.m.
