Mrs Salome Baer Shirk, 77, who came from Wooster, Ohio, three weeks ago to visit relatives in Elkhart and St Joseph counties died at 8:15 Sunday morning at the home of a sister-in-law, Mrs Esther Myers, in Elkhart. She was taken to the Myers home 10 days ago, after becoming ill at South Bend.
The body was taken to Wooster for burial, following a funeral service at the Yellow Creek church, at 2:00 pm Tuesday.
Before her second marriage, Mrs Shirk was the widow of Noah Brenneman, who was born near Wakarusa and was well known in Elkhart county. Surviving Mrs Shirk are six children, eleven grandchildren and three adopted children.
The children are Mrs Lyda Horst, of Wooster, Ohio, Henry Brenneman of Otumwa, Ia, Miss Ida E Brenneman, who is a missionary at Moyamba, West Africa; Mrs Henry Imhoff of Wooster, Ohio, Mrs R W Krider of Elverson, Pa, and I G Brenneman of Blue Ball, Pa.
