Miss Carrie Estelle Summers was found dead in the gas-filled kitchen of her home in the 100 block of North avenue last night about 7:30 after neighbors, detecting the odor of gas, launched an investigation. She was aged 63.
Dr. S.R. Wells, county medical examiner, said the woman apparently had been dead about 12 hours.
Born and reared in Middletown, Md., she was a daughter of Joshua and May (Leatherman) Summers, and had resided in Hagerstown for ten years. The deceased was a member of the Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are brothers and sisters, Mrs. S.K. Keller, Miss Vada Summers, Mrs. Emory Bittle, John C.S. Summers, all of Hagerstown; Mrs. John Buzzard, Milton V. Summers, and Seymour Summers, Middletown; and Mrs. Lewis Brandenburg, Baltimore.
The body was removed to the A.K. Coffman Funeral Home where private services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30, the Rev. Paul Minnich Robinson officiating. Interment in the Reformed cemetery, Middletown.
