Patrick Henry Morgan, 83, of the 100 block of Baxter Estates Road, died April 13, 2004, in the Albemarle Hospital. Mr. Morgan, a native of Shawboro, N.C., was the son of the late Edwin Ferebee Morgan and Lucille Baxter Morgan and was married for 54 years to Irene Shelton Morgan of the residence. He was a graduate of Swanee Military Academy and had a degree in textile engineering from North Carolina State University and an M.A. from Marshall University. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served in Japan, and had duty tours in Korea and Thailand. He retired as a lieutenant colonel in 1966 after 20 years of service. He worked as a textile engineer for Dan River Mills and was a professor of engineering and the dean of applied science at Marshall University, retiring in 1979 when he moved home to Currituck, N.C. He was a member of Pilmoor United Methodist Church.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Kathy M. Fredericks and husband Douglas W. of Yorktown, Va.; two sons, Dr. Patrick H. Morgan Jr. and wife Sharon of Currituck, N.C. and Dr. Michael B. Morgan and wife Robin of Kitty Hawk, N.C.; and seven grandchildren, Patrick H. Morgan III, Kristin Morgan, David Morgan, Doug Fredericks, Dana Fredericks, Katie Morgan and Stephanie Morgan.
A funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Pilmoor United Methodist Church with the Rev. Scott Wilson-Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in Moyock Memorial Cemetery with full military honors rendered by the U.S. Army. The family will receive friends at the residence and requests memorial donations to Pilmoor United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 65, Currituck, NC 27929.
