A memorial service attended by the State of Oklahoma DAV Honor Guard was held at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Norman, OK, on June 12.
Walt was born Dec. 15, 1924, in Buffalo, TX, to Joseph Edgar and Hettie Dossey Goodman. He began a military career in 1945, first serving in the U.S. Army and later in the Air Force. He was stationed in such diverse places as St. Johns, Newfoundland; Chateauroux, France; and Minot, ND. He married Elizabeth (Betty) Tucker in 1952, and their daughter, Leslie Monique, was born in 1963. Following Walt's retirement from the service, he settled in Oklahoma and worked for the Pottawatomie County Health Department as a dental care specialist. He married Gayle Holly Glaspie in 1974 and moved to Del City, Oklahoma. For the last 15 years, he made his home in Moore, Oklahoma.
Walt was kind and gentle, and had a very generous spirit. He loved traveling, fishing, gardening, animals, the mountains, Sooner football, and spending time with his two beloved grandsons, Stephen and Taylor. He was a talented amateur artist and poet, and was a member of the DAV Chapter 85.
Walt was preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers. Survivors include his daughter, Leslie Aubrey, and her husband, Jory, of Ft. Worth, TX; two grandchildren; brother, Arlis Goodman of Yukon, OK; and many friends, extended family members and loved ones.
