Richard Krenek, of Nada, Dies of Heart Attack Friday

Citizens throughout this area were saddened last Friday to learn of the sudden death of Richard J. Krenek,57,native and prominent resident of Nada.Mr.Krenek and his wife were visiting with a neighbor following church services Friday evening when he was struck suddenly by a heart attack.He died shortly afterward at around 8:45 p.m.

Mr.Krenek was well known throughout this area and was currently serving,as president of the Nada K.J.T. Lodge,was active as a member of the El Campo V.F.W. Post and the Nada Council of the Knights of Columbus.He served during World War II with active duty overseas in the European theatre of action.

He had been employed by the Garwood Lumber Company for eighteen years,and before that,engaged in farming.Funeral services were held at 9:30 Monday morning at the Triska Funeral Home in El Campo followed by Requiem Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Nada.The Rev. Father E.J. Bily read the Mass and conducted the services.The children's choir of St. Mary's Church sang during the Mass.

Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Nada with full military honors conducted by members of the El Campo V.F.W. and American Legion posts.Serving as pallbearers were Method Hoffmann,Ernie Genz,Hugo Bubela,Jr.,Edward Koronek,Raymond Labay and Jim Dornak.

Richard John Krenek was born on May 22,1906 in Nada,the son of Ernest and Cecelia Krenek.

Surviving are his wife,Mrs.Henrietta Koenig Krenek;one daughter,Mrs.Dorothy Saha of Bay City;two sons,Richard J. Krenek,Jr. of Fort Polk,La.,and David Krenek of Nada;three grandchildren;three sisters,Mrs.Mary Frnka of Eagle Lake,Mrs.Cecelia Dorotik of Crescent and Mrs.Louisa Krejci of Louise;a step-sister,Mrs.Vera Ondrias of Hungerford;three brothers,Lawrence Krenek of Nada,Ben Krenek of El Campo,and Ernest Krenek of Markham;and many other relatives and friends.

Through his association with citizens in many walks of life,he came to be one of the communities most respected and loved citizens,always willing to share in the burdens of others,ever happy to be of service to his neighbors,his church,his community and nation.

Friends join in extending deepest sympathy to the family in the loss of this loved one.
