Myrtle Fassett and her twin sister, Bessie, were the fourth and fifth daughters of seven and the second set of twins born to their parents, Ai Ransom Fassett, Jr. and Maryette DeKay Fassett. Their siblings include Caroline (who was also known as Pearl) (1875), Ida and Eva, twins, (1876), Josephine (1884), and Ray Ransom (1892).

Myrt never married and she lived at the Fassett home on Seaman Road all of her life, until age and dementia required for her to take residence in a convalescent facility. She was the loyal daughter and sister who took care of them, cooking, cleaning, gardening and tending to their needs as well as the needs of cousin Terressa Fassett who taught school at Clay Elementary while living at the Fassett home for many years. Myrt was very active in Clay Chapel, the Methodist church located near the family residence. She was a long time treasurer for the congregation and active in all church affairs.
