Martha Louise Armour was born to Jennet Jane Faires and William B. Armour in 1847 in Lauderdale County, Alabama. She had a younger sister, Malinda Mutelle Armour, and three older half-siblings -- Margaret Ann, Mary Jane, and Andrew Jackson Faires.

In 1866 she married Harrison M. Wallace, born 1844 in Lauderdale County, Alabama. He was a son of James L. and Lucinda Wallace, and a grandson of Thomas and Sarah Wallace. Harrison and Martha had one son, William Arthur Wallace, in 1867, who gave them many grandchildren.

Harrison was the first constable of Lauderdale County. Martha was a midwife and rode on a white horse when visiting her patients.

When Martha died, she was buried in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, where her parents and dozens of her other relatives were also buried.
