Jack Hodge 1923 ~ 2011

Jack Hodge, 87 passed away quietly on July 24, 2011 in Kingwood, Texas. Jack was born November 5, 1923 to John James and Blanche Kitt Hodge in North Walkerville, Montana. The family moved to Eureka, Utah in 1937 where Jack graduated from Tintic High School in 1940. He was also an alumnus of the University of Utah. Jack served in the U S Navy from 1943 to 1947 and was stationed in the Philippines and aboard the USS Ticonderoga. After the war, Jack worked at American Smelting, where he met Janet Powers. They were married June 2, 1950 and settled in Murray, Utah. Jack also worked for US Steel for many years, and retired in 1983. Jack was an avid golfer, woodworker and enjoyed working on his home. He and Janet loved to travel, and were fortunate enough to travel all over North America and many parts of the world. He was also a member of the Tintic Masonic Lodge # 9, Scottish Rite and the El Kalah Shrine. Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Janet, his parents, brother Calvin and his sister Blanche.
He is survived by his children John (Kathy) Hodge, Littleton, Colorado; Jim (Lori Jo) Hodge, Henderson, Nevada; Joyce Hodge, Taylorsville, Utah; and JoLyn (Alan) Lloyd, Kingwood, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren April (Alex) Phillips, Jonathan Lloyd, Jennifer (Ted) Brown, Rachel (Stephen) Adams and Nick Hodge, as well as his dear friend Jan Brown, sister-in-law Cherry Sigrist, many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Max. The family wants to thank the staffs of Atria Kingwood and Vitas Hospice for the compassionate care they provided Jack. In accordance with Jack's wishes, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association or the Shiners Children's Hospital.
