Leo Pohlman, 87, formerly of Mingo, died on Saturday, August 23, 2008, at University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Leo was born on December 26, 1920, at Castana, Iowa, the son of John and Margaret (Lindsey) Pohlman. He married Frieda Dahl on July 17, 1942. Frieda preceded Leo in death on October 24, 1990.

Leo farmed near Mingo, Iowa, from 1955 until retiring in 2002. He was a member of the Ira United Church.

Leo is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Joyce Pohlman of Nevada, Iowa, and Mark and Tracy Pohlman of Mingo, Iowa; ad daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bill Hilton, of Washington, Iowa; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Howard Pohlman of Ute, Iowa, and Clarence Pohlman of Portland, Oregon; one sister, Eva Weise of Mapleton, Iowa; and a special friend, Linda Comstock.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and four brothers, Clyde, Art, Capp, and Charlie; and one sister, Grace.

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or the United Church of Ira.
