Eva Anna (Pohlman) Wiese was born on Oct. 29, 1927, northwest of Castana, the daughter of John Pohlman and Maggie Mae (Lindsey) Pohlman. She graduated as the salutatorian from Correctionville High School in 1944 where she was the 1943 homecoming queen. She received Normal School training and taught country school in the Anthon area for one year when she was 16 years old.
Eva married Eldon H. Wiese on June 6, 1945, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux City. She was the proud mother of seven sons.
She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Mapleton. She was a dedicated mother who always took great pride in her "boys." She was always happy talking about what the boys and their wives and families were doing or had accomplished. She worked at home most of her life, providing meals, attention, and love to her husband and family. She also worked as a clerk with their sons Monte and Grant at Dean's Market in Schaller.
Eldon and Eva farmed in the Aurelia and Early areas and lived in and were employed in Schaller. In 1989 they retired and moved to Mapleton.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Art, Casper, Clyde, Charles, and Leo; a sister, Grace Chedester; a son, Steven; and a great- granddaughter, Karlie Wiese.
