ELLENBURG CENTER- Evangeline E. Whalen, 81, died Sunday, March 16, 1997, at CVPH Medical Center.

She was born October 2, 1915, in Ellenburg Center, the daughter of Eugene and Julia Tourville.

Mrs. Whalen worked at Arnak Ribbon Factory in Plattsburgh for 20 years and for 10 years at Rolling Acres Restaurant in Ellenburg Depot.

Survivors include two sons and two daughters-in-law, Clement and Nancy Whalen of Newark and Ronald and Joele Whalen of Ellenburg Center; six daughters and four sons-in-law, Marjorie and Frank Town of Rochester, Carol and Clarence Hall of Morrisonville, Jeannie and Brent Trombly of Ellenburg Center, Betty Whalen of Morrisonville, Barbara and James Decosse of Churubusco and Kathy Whalen of Ellenburg Center; two half-brothers, Norman Tourville of Ellenburg Center and Lester Tourville of Rochester; three half-sisters, Ada Zangari of California, Doritha Fisher of Florida and Jeannette Van Slyke of Virginia; a stepsister, Leona Dupuis of Ellenburg and a step-brother, Raymond Lagasse of Ellenburg Center; 19 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her husband, Raymond Whalen, died June 19, 1985; a son, Robert J. Whalen, died April 26, 1970; and three brothers, Carl, Earl and Leo Tourville, also died before her.

Calling hours will be held at E.F.Drown Funeral Home in Ellenburg Depot from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Edmund's Church, Ellenburg.

Burial will be in Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery, Churubusco, this spring.
