William C. Clark Dies; Rites Friday
William Charles Clark, only son of the late John C. Clark and Annie Rowland Clark, died early this morning at the home of his son, Marshall. Although he had been in failing health for some time, he had been active prior to the last few days.
Mr. Clark was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., July 20, 1868 and would have been 82 years old if he had lived another week. As a youth he came to Bennington and was first employed at Valentine Mills and later at Warner Brush Company and H.E. Bradford Company. He was active in the Sons of Veterans, the Bennington Grange and the Methodist church brotherhood and held various offices in each of these groups.
Mr. Clark is survived by four children: Miner C. Clark of East Arlington; Carolyn M. Clark, Marshall R. Clark and Mrs. Carl E. (Josephine) Reynolds, all of Bennington; nine grandchildren; a stepsister, Mrs. Bessie Wood Shippey of Northfield and several cousins.
The funeral will be held from the residence of Marshall R. Clark, 810 County st., on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Frederick W. Vogell will officiate.
