Lavere was the daughter of Aaron & Georgetta Conwell Bell. She was born in Henry County, but her parents moved their family to Muncie while she was a child.
She married George Ditton, the son of George & Melissa VanDyne Ditton, on July 14, 1917 in Muncie. They were the parents of one child, Clarence Howard Ditton. She was widowed in 1921.
Lavere married John Thomas Wake, the son of George & Rachel Mounsey Wake, on April 22, 1922 in Muncie. The couple were the parents of Wanda Rachel, Juanita Clare, Virginia, John Matthew, George Aaron ("Billy"), Joan Mabel, Alice Jean, Earl Ronald, Merle Donald and Chester Delmer Wake. Mrs. Wake was blessed with a sweet disposition and was a loving wife and mother.

Besides the husband she is survived by six sons, Clarence H. Ditton, of Muncie, and John, Jr., Billy, Earl, Merle and Chester, all at home; five daughters, Mrs. Wanda Clark, of Muncie, Mrs. Juanita Brenner, Virginia Wake, a WAVE stationed at Cleveland, Joanna and Alice Wake both at home; five grandchildren, and three brothers, Howard, Donald and Ralph Bell, all of Muncie. The body was removed to the Meeks mortuary.
