She was born in Laurel Fork on February 1, 1924 to the late Lewis Nester and Mary "Mollie" Cox Nester.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Mabin Cox and E.G. "Buck" Turman; a son, Roger Lee Turman; a daughter, Jerlene "Jeri" Cox Ferguson; a great grandson, Travis Upchurch; four sisters and six brothers.
Mrs. Turman was a longtime member of Tory Creek Missionary Baptist Church, where she was the treasurer for over 40 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Mrs. Turman is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, J.L. Cox & wife, Beryl of Laurel Fork; three daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce Goad & husband, Freamo of Hillsville, Diane Dalton & husband, Jim of Laurel Fork and Bonnie Goad & husband, Jimmy of Laurel Fork; ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; a sister, Julia Belle Alderman of Meadows of Dan, several nieces and nephews and two special friends, Vergie Nester and Nancy Lynch of Laurel Fork.
Funeral services for Mrs. Turman were on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Tory Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Kevin Combs officiating. Burial will follow in the Webb Family Cemetery in Laurel Fork, VA. The family will received friends Monday evening at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
