All directors and officers of the Arkansas Valley Interurban Railway Company were reelected at the annual meeting this week. Directors listed. George Theis, Jr. is president, W. E. Brown and C. H. Smyth, vice-presidents, and R. B. Campbell is secretary-treasurer. The company has 90 on its Wichita payroll. Workmen today began dismantling the interurban line between Winfield and Arkansas City. Permission to discontinue the service and junk the line was given by the Kansas Utilities Commission Monday. It has been owned and operated by the Arkansas City Northern, of which George Theis, Jr., and associates, are the principal owners. It was purchased at a receiver's sale four years ago, and Mr. Theis has lost $50,000 in the experiment. The College Hill line in Winfield will continue as before. Report of death at 6:15 p.m. yesterday of George Theis, Jr., president of the Arkansas Valley Interurban Railway and Kansas capitalist, at age 64, when he was struck by an airplane propeller at the Travel Air Company airport, which was being taxied to the hangar by Lloyd Stearman.
