Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Carla Lee Hutcherson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40.
Mrs. Jones was born May 5, 1926, in Wheeler. Laverta lived her life between the cotton fields of Wheeler and the countryside of Amarillo. She was married 63 years to the love of her life, Anial Hillard "Jack" Jones. She retired from Levi Strauss after more than 20 years, performing a job that she really liked. Her greatest joy came from her eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She quietly dedicated her life to improving the lives of others. There will never be another like her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anial H. "Jack" Jones in 2010; and two sons, Roy Jones in 2000 and Dwayne Jones in 2010.
Survivors include a daughter, Jane Quick and husband Len of Dallas; a daughter-in-law, Maria Jones of Amarillo; eight grandchildren, Shawn Jones, Shanda Windham, Cory Jones, Kimberly Persefield, Ambre Jones, all of Amarillo, and Kelly West, Shane Jones and Paul Bell, all of Dallas; and 15 great-grandchildren, Josh, Shelbey, Kurt, David, Holden, Kody, Hunter, Lori, Beau, Colby, Caidence, Haley, Zoey, Jacie and Sebastian.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
