Funeral services for Douglas Morris Williams, Sr., 82, of Blackville, SC will be held three p.m., Thursday, September 24, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Blackville with burial in the Blackville Cemetery, Dr. Thomas Terry will be officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be sent to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 217, Blackville, SC 29817. Mr. Williams passed away Monday, September 21, 2009.

Born in Allendale County, he was a son of the late Cyril E. Williams and Mozelle Morris Williams. He retired from Southern Bell, was an active member of Blackville First Baptist Church, attended Denmark First Baptist Church and Orangeburg First Baptist Church and served as deacon in all three churches.

Survivors include his wife Miriam Marjorie Lott Williams of the home; daughter, Catherine Williams Bergen and Earl H. Bergen of Guyton, GA; son, Morris and Mary Ellen Williams of Blackville; sister, Betty Harris of Clinton; four grandchildren, Jennifer Williams McNair, Jason Williams, Nicole Hattaway Bergen, Morgan Bergen and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Lynn Williams; a sister, Mary Elisabeth Williams; three brothers, C. E., Henry and Billy Williams.
