Anna M. Coffin was born 26 December 1861 in South Bend, Minnesota to Edwin Coffin (1824-1906) and Mary Polston Coffin (abt.1827-abt.1872). She moved to Beaverhead County, Montana with her father in the early 1880s. She married Rev. Wilder M. Nutting (1854-1937) on 19 January 1886 in Dillon, Montana. They had four children, the oldest of which died as a young child. It is believed that Anna died in childbirth on 28 April 1900 in Dillon, MT at the age of 38. She was buried in Mountain View Cemetery there.
